Climate Change in the Desert Southwest

Climate change is happening NOW in the Southwestern United States.  We are experiencing increases in the frequency and intensity of fire, extended drought, increasing temperatures and evapotranspiration rates, pest infestations, decreased crop production, increases in flood events, shifting ecosystem boundaries, desertification of grasslands, decreasing species diversity, decreasing snow pack, lowering water tables and river volumes. Our Desert Oasis Teaching garden will provide a place where our community can learn to adapt to these impacts and to create solutions to the problems we now face.  projected-impact-of-climate-change_001
