The Desert Oasis Teaching Garden is an agro-ecology education project highlighting experiential learning and systems-based thinking. Located in the desert southwest, the garden will teach our students and community how to grow food in a hotter, drier land. Through project-based learning, students will create novel solutions to design challenges. This garden will focus on local food system models, the human community as it relates to natural ecosystems, and fostering the resilience and critical thinking skills required for navigating future challenges for 21st century living.
Students will help create the garden, document what they learn so that they can teach others, and reflect on their learning. This blog is authored by students for students! Read about why the Desert Oasis Teaching garden matters to them on the ABOUT US page.
Wonderful pictures, Karen – the snowscape is my favorite!
